Description
This Eames Chair is the DAW Dining Chair from Vitra which features a plastic armchair shell and wood/metal strut base. Designed by Charles and Ray Eames as part of the plastic chair series DAW means 'dining height arm chair, wood base'. This iconic dining chair has a moulded polypropylene shell in a variety of colours with a wood and metal base in three options. Every colour in this selection is carefully chosen to complement the others, so you can mix and match a variety of shades to suit your décor.
What does RE mean on Vitra products?
Products marked RE use recycled materials. Vitra's commitment to more environmentally sustainable production has led them to engineer the Eames Plastic Shell chairs from recycled post-consumer plastic. The recycled material stems from German household waste collected via the "Yellow Bag" (Gelber Sack) system. Utilising this material instead of virgin plastic generates fewer climate-damaging emissions and consumes significantly less energy, all while maintaining Vitra's incredibly high standards.

Charles & Ray Eames
American husband and wife design duo Charles and Ray Eames have had a profound influence on the visual character of American life, producing original work within the fields of architecture, furniture design, industrial design, manufacturing and the photographic arts.
The Eames’ first partnered with Vitra in 1957 to produce some of the most iconic pieces of furniture in the history of interior design. Today Vitra continues to reflect their philosophy on design and functionality, best understood through Charles’ own words: “Recognising the need is the primary condition for the design”.
