Description
In 1952, Le Corbusier introduced the Borne Béton Petite Table Lamp, originally designed for the outdoor spaces of the Unité d’Habitation in Marseille and to illuminate the Bhakra Dam and Sukhna Dam in India. This lamp marked an early exploration of concrete in lighting design, inspired by the principles of Brutalist architecture. The raw, minimalist appeal of concrete is complemented by an integrated LED source, highlighting distinct volumes through the play of light. Each Borne Béton is a unique project, characterised by small aesthetic and finishing variations that add to its individual charm. This version can be used outdoors and has the option of an additional vandal-proof fixing plate.

Le Corbusier (Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris) - 1887-1965 - was a prolific French architect, designer, urbanist, painter and writer and one of the most influential architects of the twentieth century - a pioneer of what is now called 'modern architecture'. A vehement advocate of the modern aesthetic Le Corbusier designed with a much revered puritan severity. His view that a modern house or apartment was a 'machine for living' in is exemplified by some of the furniture he created to go in them such as the LC4 Chaise, LC1 Armchair and LC2 Armchair from Cassina.
