The AJ Oxford Table lamp was originally designed by Arne Jacobsen for St Catherine's College In Oxford, in a modernist architectural style which stands in contrast with the surrounding classical architecture of Oxford University. The first design featured a pin base for use in the impressive dining hall at the college, which housed long rows of oak tables, seating 350 people. The lamp is now part of a product family by Danish lighting brand Louis Poulsen.
The AJ Oxford Table Lamp features a sleek, graphic expression that emits a pleasant downward-directed light. For further illumination choose the variant without the top metal shade to allow the milky opal glass to provide further glow and form an alluring halo around the fixture. Available in two heights with a choice of shade options, the smaller version is ideal for compact spaces or to create a moment on a shelf or windowsill. The taller version is also available as a pin table lamp as a testament to Arne Jacobsen's original design.

Arne Jacobsen
Arne Jacobsen was born in Copenhagen in 1902 and graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in architecture in 1927. He was prolific both as an architect and as a designer. He is most famous for designing the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, and for the interior, the Egg and Swan Chair together with the Swan Sofa and Series 3300 with Fritz Hansen. This propelled the Arne Jacobsen name into furniture history.
