The J42 chair from HAY is a reproduction of a classic furniture design from the 1960's. The original designer, Børge Mogensen, was lead designer at FDB (Fællesforeningen for Danmarks Brugsforeninger) which was a Danish Consumers Co-operative. Mogensen led a program to renew Danish furniture culture and create modern, functional and useful furniture that would be affordable for all social classes. From this a range of chairs and tables were born.
The J42 armchair features precise proportions and is constructed using simple vertical and horizontal lines that give the chair a simple and uncomplicated design. The curved spindles and angular armrests create a chair that provides lasting comfort and timeless appeal. Available in a range of oiled, water-based lacquered oak finishes to suit your style.
