VIA57 from Fritz Hansen has been specially designed for the VIA57 West building which casually leans into the Manhattan skyline and is a result of a unique partnership between Danish design group KiBiSi and architect Bjarke Ingels. Ingels, who is known for his innovative architecture and KiBiSi,which is known for its idea-driven approach, have taken Danish design abroad by reinventing the American skyscraper and presenting the VIA57™ chair. The partnership between BIG, KiBiSi and Republic of Fritz Hansen is a unique example of architecture and design going hand in hand, as it did in Arne Jacobsen’s SAS Royal Hotel in the 1960s.
With its adaptive and inventive design, the VIA57 is a chair that perfectly fits the modern lifestyle, allowing you to reconfigure it to suit your individual needs. Combining Scandinavian simplicity with American comfort, the VIA57 is both a chair and an inviting piece of sculpture with great visual appeal. The design expression softens the traditional lines of a room and offers uncompromising comfort.
The VIA57 is composed of a steel frame embedded in moulded soft polyurethane foam. Two different densities create the soft yet firm comfort. The thick seat upholstery offers great comfort without losing visual elegance while the rounded backside and the piping refers to Fritz Hansen’s master collection. The wooden base creates an elegant finish towards the floor letting the chair almost float in space.
The collection consists of an element that can be used in a multitude of ways. It can positioned individually so that you have easy access to the chair from several sides or it can be placed in sofa-like formations. This offers great flexibility hence the VIA57™ lounge chair can fit into various interiors auah as lobbies, receptions, lounges and private homes.

Jaime Hayon
Spanish artist-designer Jaime Hayon has shot to international acclaim through his use of designing with the intent of preserving and updating traditional objects through new forms of materials and technologies. His work is strongly characterized by his childhood passions, skateboard culture and graffiti art. Hayon set up his own design business in 2006 and has since collaborated with some of the word's most influential brands, including Fritz Hansen, Established and Sons, Moooi, Swarovski and his ongoing work as a creative consultant for the Spanish porcelain manufacturer Lladró. The Ro Chair and Favn Sofa are some of his most recent projects.
