Carl Hansen PK52A Student Desk
Description
The Carl Hansen PK52A Desk, designed by Poul Kjærholm and manufactured by Carl Hansen, was designed (along with the larger PK52 Professor Desk) for the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1955 and was to change the path of Kjærholm 's career. He drew on his experience in cabinetmaking and furniture design to develop a structure that showcased both his deep mastery of steel and wood and the seamless synthesis of traditional craftsmanship and industrial design that were to become his hallmark.
Both neutral and eternally modern, these tables or desks are highly versatile, serving as functional desks, dining tables or attractive worktables in a studio or workroom, at home or commercial/ academic space. Both the Student and Professor desks are available with Oregon pine or oak veneer tabletops in an oiled finish or, for added versatility, a reversible grey and black laminate top. The frame is produced in black or grey lacquered steel (depending on the top selected). An optional drawer in the same range of finishes completes the desk's appeal.
